The Jackson Inventors Network (JIN) closed out its 2013 JIN meeting schedule with a presentation by Neil Sheridan of SVPI.com, who is a tech entrepreneur, interim CEO and consultant. He has researched innovation and leadership for many years, and provided extensive insight into the steps needed to bring an idea or an invention to market, including asking the tough questions, like “Who cares” about your idea. He challenged the group to look for answers for the big questions, rather than pursue projects for the sake of intellectual curiosity.
Sheridan outlined the necessary traits needed to bring an idea to market, including evaluating yourself, as an inventor. Do you have the technical ability to make your idea real? Do you have the right resources? Do you have a passion for making this idea? Do you have the support of your significant other or your family?
